Hey, everyone! I’m excited to have some downtime for the next few weeks and I hope to release some new stuff by then. I can’t believe it’s been four months since I last put together a post. If you’re wondering why I haven’t created anything new, here’s the story: Back in August, I began law school. I knew it was going to be a lot more work than undergrad but I had no idea what was really in store when I started. Law school is something that you cannot prepare for – you just have to let it hit you and try to keep up. It’s basically like being thrown into the deep end of a pool and having to figure out how to swim. This semester has been unlike anything I’ve ever done in terms of workload and constant challenge. I’m stoked to have made it through my first semester (now the wait begins for learning how I did on my finals).

Before I started school, I had every intention of creating new content on weekends and during any spare time. The thing is that almost all of my “free time” became “study time.” With most weeks requiring around 200 pages (often more) of reading, free time turned into trying to get caught up and ready for upcoming classes. The urgency to read was unreal, especially given that professors like to cold-call students and probe them with incredibly difficult questions. Law school can be a major pain in the ass.

All that said, I’m enjoying my experience so far. I’ve met some great people, had some good times, and learned a hell of a lot. Intellectually, I find myself now starting to “think like a lawyer” – I’ll never look at uneven pavement or chicken (what is chicken?) the same way. I also enjoyed my professors. In particular, I came to idolize my toughest professor, Alan Weinstein. He’s a brilliant and interesting man, he’s an expert at what he does, and, most importantly, he pushed us to a great extent, which is something for which I am very grateful. It’s ironic to say that, as much as I feared him at the start of the semester, I genuinely look forward to learning more from him in the future.

Anyway! I’ll be spending the next few days coming up with some ideas for new posts and hammering them out over my break. I also have some client work to get to so I’m sure a few ideas will come from that too. If anyone has something in particular you’d like to see, feel free to throw it in the comments.
