UPDATE: As of Genesis 2.2.3, Genesis navigation options are back!
UPDATE: As of Genesis 2.1, the option to insert a search bar from the Genesis options page is no longer available. To add a search bar, you will need to insert some code into your functions.php file. Here is the code for adding Genesis navigation extras.
Add Search Bar to Genesis Navigation
This tutorial is specifically for the Genesis Framework. To add a search bar to the navigation menu in Genesis (just like EngageWP.com), simply navigate to Genesis → Theme Settings → Navigation and select the “Search Form” option from the dropdown (see below). If you don’t see the Navigation section, make sure it’s enabled by checking your Screen Options at the top-right corner of the page. Save you changes and you’re good to go.

And now in 3.x they are gone again and hard coding into functions.php is required if you want a search box. Thank you for keeping this page there because it helped me debug why my search box had suddenly disappeared after upgrading to Genesis 3.0.1.

I’m using Genesis Atmosphere Pro theme. I can’t see the option. I added the code, still no use. Wondering how to do this must have feature in a blog. For the time being I have added the search widget below comment.

Nav Extras is back in Genesis settings from version 2.2.3

As of 2.1 it has been removed. You can now use code snippets provided bij Studiopress to add extras to the nav. http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/nav-extras/

Hi, Anwar. Yes, you are correct. Thanks for the note. I will update the post to reflect this.

Hi Affan,
EngageWP.com is using the WP Touch plugin for a mobile theme. This is a standard part of the plugin. If you want to do this on your regular menu, it would require some more advanced customization.

Thanks for publishing amd I really appreciate this but this but it’s not what exactly I’m looking for. I’d like the search form to appear when you click the search icon amd the search form will appear as a dropdown. Exactly the same as your site when I browse your site from my smartphone.
